Commissioners' Court changes meeting dates
By Bobby Horn Jr.
Commissioners’ Court watchers used to showing up on Monday mornings to watch the proceedings will find an empty courtroom when Jan. 25 rolls around.
The court, by unanimous vote Jan. 11, approved a measure which moves regular meetings of the court to the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, beginning Jan. 26.
County Judge Becky Wilbanks said that the court had met on Tuesdays in the past and that commissioners wanted a return to that schedule. She said that adding an extra day it allows the other county offices more time to prepare their reports for commissioners.
“The commissioners said that it worked for their schedules as well so we decided to change it,” she said.
Court will continue to meet in the Cass County Law Enforcement And Justice Center Building, in the second floor justice of the peace courtroom at 8:30 a.m.
In other court business, commissioners appointed Mary Echols and Sonny Fletcher to the Cass County Emergency Service District #1 Board of Commissioners for a term of office from Jan.1, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2017.
Troy Buzbee and and Don Plum were appointed to new two-year terms to the Emergency Services District #2 Board of Commissioners.
