QCHS to hold blood drive
Texarkana, TX., May 12, 2014— LifeShare is having a blood drive May 20 , 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Queen City High School, 905 Houston St., Queen City, TX. The Blood Drive is part of LifeShare Blood Centers 2013 – 2014 LifeScholars program. The program is designed to honor students who demonstrate community service and leadership by becoming regular blood donors.
Every school has the opportunity to earn a scholarship for its students, regardless of school size or athletic classification, but it must qualify by reaching a minimum blood donation level. The community can offer its support to Queen City High School by giving blood at the Feb. 12 blood drive.
“As emerging adults learning about the responsibilities of grown-up life, high school students have the opportunity to practice the highest form of philanthropy - giving the Gift of Life,” says Rachael Green, Donor Recruiter for LifeShare Blood Centers.
About 1 in 7 people entering a hospital need blood. One blood donation, approximately one pint of blood, can save up to three lives. Every donation has the potential to save someone’s life.
