The meaning of the word persevere, according to the Eleventh Edition of the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary released in 2007, is “to persist in a state, enterprise, or undertaking in spite of counterinfluences, opposition, or discouragement.”  Diane Morris Miller, a 1991 graduate of Atlanta High School, exemplifies the very essence of the word persevere taken from that seven year old dictionary. Those seven years coincide with Diane’s impassioned dedication to her doctoral program at Texas A & M University-College Station.
