With help from the local fire department and police department, Atlanta Elementary School held a tornado drill on Thursday, May 1.
Although the highest risk for a tornado to form is from March to May, one can occur at any time throughout the year when warm and cold air meet.
Dianne Whatley, principal at AES, and Robin Betts, Atlanta Fire Chief, have worked together for the last several months to rework the school’s emergency plans, whether it be tornado, fire, or evacuation drills, or making changes in the plan on what to do if there is an intruder in the school.
