Burke’s ask city for compromise on back taxes

The Atlanta city council, city manager David Cockrell, and Mayor Keith Crow received good news last week that was made public at the council meeting on Monday; the city’s audit came back clean, and the city budget is in great shape.
At the end of the meeting Cockrell summed up the audit again, saying that it doesn’t really get much better.
In a brief public forum Peter and Debbie Burke spoke to the council about news they received in a letter that stated they owed five years of back taxes. The letter stated that their homestead had been annexed by the city in 2005, but the Burke’s were never aware of the annexation.
