During the judge’s report on Monday, commissioners were given information about the chiller for the justice center building. Basically, they were told the chiller needs to be replaced.
David Waites with Wellborn Mechanical informed commissioners that the system was not installed correctly when it was put in and that it needs to have a water treatment done annually. This has not been done since the system was installed when the justice center was built.
Waites advised it would be in the county’s best interest if it replaced the chiller that is down and use that unit for parts for the second unit. He said if the unit goes down the county will be without air conditioning in the building. The HVAC system is not in good shape.
“You are running on a wing and a pray the way you are running right now,” Waites said to commissioners.
He said it will take four to six weeks for the new unit to be delivered once it is ordered. Commissioners were unable to vote on this item as it was presented for their information.
The unit was damaged by a lighting strike last year and both units have had several repairs done including last week.
