When the telephone came to Kildare

In the 40’s in Kildare, there were only two telephones. One was in Gorman Moore’s Store and the post office. Mr. Moore was the post master and had a phone at his residence. 
If you wanted to visit a friend, you went to their house. If your friend lived miles away, you wrote a letter. That was when there were penny post cards and three-cent stamps.
