Marathon for the Hungry best yet

The Marathon for the Hungry 7th Annual Food Drive was held Nov. 22 to benefit Rebecca’s Pantry, a 501(c)3 non-profit food ministry located at Westside Baptist Church in Atlanta. This year’s drive was sponsored by KPYN radio.
Three pick-ups and a church van were filled with almost 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food items collected from 7 to 10 a.m. in front of Brookshire’s.
Approximately 10 volunteers from the pantry helped throughout the drive loading and unloading donated food items.
Donations were made by employees of the Texas Department of Transportation, the Atlanta High School Key Club and the Morris Upchurch Middle School Student Council. Many individuals dropped off cash donations as well as food items. All the donated food will be provided to needy Cass County residents during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
“I believe this was the biggest Marathon for the Hungry ever,” said event coordinator Judy Ragsdale.
