Durhams recall the day of Kennedy’s assassination

Fifty years later, Bob and Loreta Durham of Linden recall the day of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Last week with all of the news coverage Bob began to recall to his wife Loreta the day Kennedy was assassinated on Friday, Nov. 22, 1963.
At the time they were living in the Oak Cliff addition located in southwest Dallas and Bob was working at Combine American Insurance on Oaklawn Avenue about two blocks from Turtle Creek Boulevard where the motorcade was traveling with Kennedy from Love Field.
Because a timeline and route had been published Bob said they all knew when to expect to see the president. Bob and two other guys walked the two blocks to the motorcade route. Bob said the majority of the staff was there. Explaining the scene, Bob said there weren’t a lot of people around.
