Bobby Joe Hamilton, 80, of Linden passed away Sept. 18, 2013, in a Linden hospital.
He was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Linden to Robert and Pearl Surratt Hamilton. He was an engineer at Morton-Thiokol and served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pearl Hamilton; one brother, Curtis Hamilton; one sister, Lynda McDuff; and father and mother-in-law, M. P. and Cecil Yates.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Yates Hamilton of Linden; two sons, Joe Hamilton and wife Gena of Linden and Jeff Hamilton and wife Letitia of Nacogdoches; five grandchildren and their families, Cameron Robert Hamilton of Longview, Chandler Ray Hamilton of Nacogdoches, Anthony Potts of Hooks, Maranda Derrick of Red Lick and Tessa Duhon of Hooks; six great-granddaughters; one sister-in-law, Sally Hamilton of Marshall; nieces and nephews and their families, Mike Hamilton, Phil Hamilton, Suzanne Hamilton Turner, Renaye Allen, Leisa Churchman, LeAnn Trim, Brian Cave and Levi McDuff; and numerous “adopted” children and friends.
The family will received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the First Baptist Church in Linden, Interment followed at Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Linden.
