Red River Army Depot celebrates 72 years

The New York’s World Fair opens with the slogan of “Dawn of a New Day” indicating to the visitors through their official pamphlets that they would be afforded a look at “the world of tomorrow”. Engenio Pacelli is elected as the new pope, Pius XII after the death of Pope Pius IX a month prior by the College of Cardinals. Mahatma K. Gandhi fasts to bring about political reforms. The sweeping epic Gone With the Wind was released and would later go on to snag Outstanding Production along with a host of other Academy awards. The songs on the radio, if you were lucky enough to have one were likely something to the tune of Over the Rainbow or In The Mood by the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Perhaps, Deep Purple by Larry Clinton and His Orchestra, or Beer Barrel Polka by Will Glahe’ were playing at the time.
