AISD proposes increase in tax rate for 2013

Atlanta Independent School District trustees held a special meeting Thursday evening to discuss and approve a proposed tax rate for 2013.
Trustees unanimously approved a proposed tax rate of $1.209 up one cent from last year.  Trustees are proposing a $19,208,429 budget with a $16,074 surplus.
They agreed the maintenance tax rate for 2013-2014 should remain $1.04 per $100 valuation. The maintenance tax fund covers general operations of the school district including salaries, utilities, transportation, supplies and other resources.
