Kevin New, 49, of Queen City, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in a Texarkana hospital.
He was born May 29, 1964, in Haynesville, La., to Roy and Nell New. He was retired from International Paper and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, shooting pool and dancing.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, D. R. Benefield and paternal grandfather, Joe New.
He is survived by his son, Zach New of Texarkana, Ark.; a daughter, Carrissa Wallace and husband Randy of Queen City; his parents, Roy and Sheri New and Nell New of Queen City; one brother, Scott New and wife Mindy of Rowlett; one sister, Alicia Hayden of Benton, Ark.; two grandchildren, Callie Wallace and Alena Wallace both of Queen City; maternal grandmother, Glenn Benefield of Haynesville, La.; paternal grandmother, Bessie Charles and husband Robert of Sarepta, La.; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Hanner Funeral Service.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 2, at the Hanner Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Baxley and Bro. Mike Lovely officiating. Interment followed at New Ramah Cemetery in Haynesville under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
