Linden Area Chamber of Commerce: Businesses, individuals show support

Linden Area Chamber of Commerce board members received an update on their recent membership drive during their regular meeting Feb. 5 at the Linden Economic Development Corporations office. Thus far 30 businesses and 26 individuals have joined or renewed memberships in the chamber.

Those businesses are as follows: Academy of Texas Music; B.B. Boon Insurance Agency, Inc.; Capps General Insurance; Carla’s Flower & Gifts; Cass County Sun; Cass County Title Company; Community Services of Northeast Texas; East Texas Realty; Fairview Jr.-Sr. High Reunion Corp.; Linden Automotive; Bowie-Cass Electric Co-op; Linden-Kildare ISD; Fast Lane Lube & Tire, Inc.; and Good Shepherd Medical Center-Linden.

Also, Jerry Berry Plumbing & Electric, Inc.; Lanier Auto Center; Linden Economic Development Corp., Sections A & B; Lovelace, Stovall & Shelton, Inc.; Powers Pharmacy #1; MJS Management; Music City Texas Theatre; Reeder-Davis-Schindler, Inc.; Reliant NDT Systems & Services; Royal Inn; Rushing Pest Control; SWEPCO; Texana Bank; TRICO Lumber; Tommy’s Bar-B-Que; and Ward Timber.

Individual members are Tracie Bynum, Don Dowd, Mary Dowd, Buddy Erwin, Patricia Erwin, Shayne Erwin, Mickey Fears, James Grubbs, Linda Grubbs, Kenny Hamilton, David Hulme, Diane Hulme, Richard Hutsell, Dana Kirkland, Cissi Lanier, Melissa Lanier, Jo Miller, Bob Money, Vicki Morse, Rebecca Narramore, Dub Narramore, Pat Roberson, Bertha Sheffield, Peggy Sheffield, Susan Whatley and Buddy Whatley.

The Chamber has seen an increase in individual memberships and a few more businesses.

In other business, it was noted proceeds from Winterfest have been deposited into the chamber’s account.

Last month’s joint meeting was attended by representatives of 13 community organizations for the presentation by the Texas Forest Trail Region executive director. It was suggested that this group meet at least twice a year for community planning.

The chamber board agreed to participate again in the Linden Wildflower Trails of Texas Festival scheduled for Saturday, April 27, as part of its fundraising activities.

The chamber will begin the day at 7:30 a.m. with sausages and biscuits and will also have homemade ice cream available later in the morning. Tentative plans include providing an inflatable play center for children.

Financial donations from the chamber were approved for the Lions Follies program; Linden Youth Athletic Association; Linden Wildflower Trails Art Show; and the City of Linden for flags.

The March meeting was set for 6 p.m. March 5, at the LEDC office.

Citizens are encouraged to become members of the chamber and to participate in chamber activities.

Regular meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday each month at the LEDC building on North Main Street.
