LK FFA celebrates National FFA Week
Linden-Kildare FFA students and instructors are celebrating National FFA Week Feb. 16-23. Members have placed FFA fun fact posters all over the campus to inform other students about FFA.
On Monday, Feb. 18, the FFA had a squirrel stew for all FFA members and their families. Afterward, there were games in the gym for all members.
On Tuesday, Feb. 19, FFA members wore their shirts to school to show FFA pride and inform others about the FFA.
On Wednesday, Feb. 20, FFA officers are awarding their teachers with appreciation certificates to thank them for all their hard work and dedication they have given to their FFA Chapter.
On Monday, Feb. 25, the FFA members will attend the Area VI FFA Convention held in Van.
"LK FFA has been in many events this past year, and hopes to continue to grow and be in many more events," Bryson Baggett, president said.
The 2012-2013 Chapter officers are Bryson Baggett, president; Cody Fuller, vice president; Caitlin Grider, secretary; Patrick Littlejohn, treasurer; Aaron Harp, reporter; Cole Roberts, sentinel; James Boney, advisor; and Alex Hendrix, historian.
In July 2012, the officer team attended the 84th Annual State Convention in Corpus Christi. Cody Fuller, Austin Ayers, Caitlin Grider, and Jamie McDonald each received their Lone Star Degree, the highest FFA degree awarded in the state.
Ag Mechanics students made several projects, including deer stands, deer feeders, tables, a dresser, hay mangers, and many more. Linden had several first place projects, and got second place honors overall.
The Chapter officer team and three Greenhand officers attended the 85th annual National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Ind., on Oct. 24-27. Baggett said this was a once in a lifetime experience and "everyone had a great time."
Many students participated in the Cass County Livestock show this past year and did very well in the sale.
Students participated in the L.D.E. (Leadership Development Education) Contest. Levi Houston advanced to area in Junior Creed Speaking.
L-K FFA students are currently constructing their projects for the upcoming auction in the spring. A variety of projects will be sold.
Students are now training for the Career Development Events coming up and hope to do well in competition.
