Primary Runoff Election starts Monday

Early voting in the Primary Runoff Election will get underway on Monday, May 19. For the Primary Runoff Election voters will vote in one of the two political party elections, democrat or republican.
If a voter voted in the primary election, the voter must vote in the same political party runoff election. If a voter did not vote in the primary election, the voter may still vote in the runoff election and for the party of their choice.
Early voting begins Monday, May 19 and ends on Friday, May 23 for the May 27, Primary Election Runoff.
Early voting will take place at the Cass County Voting Building, 227 Rush St. in Linden. The building will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Primary Runoff Election will take place Tuesday, May 27. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
Voters who will be out of the county during early voting and on Election Day have until Friday to request a ballot by mail, as well as those who are 65 or older or disabled. The voter must provide an address outside of the county to mail the ballot to.
Applications for absentee voting may be applied for at the county clerks’ offices. Completed and signed applications for ballot by mail should be mailed to Jannis Mitchell, Early Voting Clerk, P.O. Box 449, Linden, Texas 75563.
The request must be received no later than the close of business at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 16. Request must be in writing, by mail and need to indicate which party the voter would like to be designated sot that they receive the correct ballot.
Registered voters are reminded photo identification is required to vote in the upcoming election. Qualified voters without an approved photo ID may obtain a free Election Identification Card from DPS.
Voters will be required to provide an acceptable form of photo identification when they vote in person.
Acceptable forms of photo ID:
- Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
- Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
- Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
- Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS
- United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph
- United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph
- United States passport
With the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the identification must be current or have expired no more than 60 days before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place.
Polling locations will be consolidated for this election.
