Murder suspect arrested in Cass County Monday

Cass County Sherriff’s department made an arrest in a Nash, Texas murder case this morning.
According to Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe deputies made an arrest after receiving notification from a family member that suspect James Austin Friend, 34, of Texarkana wanted to turn himself in.
Friend was reportedly between Domino and Bloomburg off Farm to Market road 3129. He has family in the Queen City area.
Deputy James Rachel made the arrest at 7:45 a.m. on May 12 and transported Friend to the Cass County Jail without incident.
A warrant was issued by Bowie County Justice of the Peace Nancy Talley for murder first degree felony.
Precinct 1 Judge Barbara McMillon arraigned Friend at 9:30 a.m. without bond. He will be transported to Bowie County.
The shooting occurred last night at the Pine Ridge Estates trailer park in Nash, Texas about 5 miles west of Texarkana, Texas.
Friend was wanted for the murder of 31-year-old Larry Gray, Jr. of Texarkana.
