Phillips 66 Refinery, also known as ‘The Plant’

In 1937, the Phillips 66 refinery was built. It was located on Hwy 125 between Kildare Junction and McLeod. It included a camp of 20-25 houses with a bunk house for workers and their families.
Students from the camp went to school in the Kildare School District. Gene Barton lived with his family at the plant between 1950 and 1954. Read more in our e-edition:
